What I like about this is that it offers very concrete steps about how to take data and pull it all together. How to start linking ideas, put together themes, develop more complex matrices, etc. I will say that the text is rather difficult reading and the examples, almost all from evaluation of educational programs, are often difficult to understand and follow. If you have some experience with qualitative data, this book may be helpful. I think I'll still have to do more reading to understand the analysis process, though.

OUTSTANDING TEXT AND NEVER OUTDATED / / 2009-06-11
This is a great book for guidance for qualitative analysis. It never becomes outdated and is an industry standard.

Basics well covered / / 2009-03-16
An excellent book covering the basics of qualitative data analysis (QDA) with a fair amount of coverage of computer tools that support QDA. While computer samples are provided through out the book and an Appendix provides a summary of tools available at time of publication, greater emphasis could have been placed on the capabilities of QDA software, especially such tools as HyperRESEARCH (http:/www.researchware.com/) or Atlas.ti (http://www.atlasti.com/) to name just two.

This book is one of the main reasons I was able to tackle my dissertation so effectively. It is priceless.

This book assisted me in my graduate classes for Kinesiology.

I recommend it for any graduate students who need to take similar classes to mine.
